Professional Speaker
Professional speaking is a profession that many people don't
know about. When my girlfriend first met me she thought I was out of work or
just kidding when I told her I was a professional speaker.
I can assure you it is a real profession. It has it's own association (National
Speakers Association) along with branches in many other countries. Corporations,
associations and many other groups hire pro speakers all the time.
Of course, I believe in the profession. I've been at it full time for 20 years
and I was a professional entertainer before that. You can also Google "Speakers
Bureaus" to see thousands of big money speakers you never heard of that make a
living speaking.
The fees you can get for speeches would shock most people who aren't in the
field. An average fee for a one hour speech could easily be a month's salary for
an average person.
